COMMITMENT and FIDELITY

I believe the best ingredients to a successful marriage are the following:

1. Commitment
2. Fidelity

Remembering these two will lead to a successful partnership in marriage. It takes two to tango. Commitment means saying yes to everyday challenges of a good marriage and fidelity means evading all temptations and considering constantly the welfare of the partner. In other words, this is also called as self- emptying.

Each partner in marriage plays a significant role in the success of marriage. There should be constant love that exists between the to of them.Similar to any form of relationship, marriage requires a consistent positive action on both partners. There could be loopholes and misfortunes along the way yet the capacity of each one to extend forgiveness and genuine love the conflict will easily be resolved. So many marriages are destroyed due to the failure of both partners to show humility and forgiveness to each one. However I emphasize this point that genuine love from both partners will result to the ability of both to endow acceptance on the other notwithstanding all other weakness. After all, a marriage relationship is a give and take process.

Marriage is a lifelong commitment thus being able to hang on to it till the end of life is such a challenge. However personally I believe that being faithfully committed to the other partner in a commitment is a daily struggle and a daily renewal. Each day, we have to affirmatively answer to the commitment so as to remind each one that it is another day and another opportunity to grow in the commitment.

It takes both parties to confront issues and to savor triumphs in marriage. There is also that call to be creative in showing one's affection to the other. It is never a part time responsibility however, both partners need to understand that being faithful to the commitment needs each one to be continuously in love with the other.
